The Vale Islanders hadn’t been to Bunkfest (a wonderful folk festival in Wallingford) for some years, so after talking about it after dance practice one Tuesday evening, and finding a lot of enthusiasm, Howard approached Jenny Cox (dance organiser) and made the necessary arrangements. So glad we did! Despite rain most of the day, we had a wonderful time.
Our side had quite a few novice dancers, so our Squire, JoHanne, decided to stick to just a few of our best known dances (Gathering Peascods, Hunsden House, Grimstock and Picking up Sticks). That did the trick!
The band was mainly Howard (octave mandolin) and Lucia (fiddle) but happily, Bill (melodeon) was able to join us for our first spot before he headed off to his own events.
